Abigale Lee
Miller(born on 21st September 1965) is an American choreographer, dance
instructor and reality TV personality. Abby Lee Dance Company was created by
her. It aired on eight seasons of the show Dance Moms. Miller admitted in June
of 2016 to the charge of felony bankruptcy fraud. Miller was sentenced for one
and one-half years in federal prison. She was released on the 27th of March
2018. The diagnosis of lymphoma was made in April of this year. It's a form of
cancer that renders you unfit to walk. In order to move about, she now uses
wheelchair. Miller has been a dancer since childhood in Penn Hills,
Pennsylvania, which is a Pittsburgh suburb. She attended classes under the tutelage
of her mother at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. Miller at the age of 14 was
given the choreography and coaching of one of her mother’s dance competition
teams. Miller eventually took over the studio in 1995 and changed the name to
it Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of America in
1986. She was also made an active member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania
Chapter 10 in February 2012. But her membership was terminated by the DMA in
February 2012 after the DMA declared that Miller's reality TV show Dance Moms
was "a complete false representation of dance educators and students and
was detrimental to the profession of dance."
